NEW WAVE 2026 /TAGO MAGO

Location: Beton Cinema, Multimedia Cultural Center (Ulica slobode 28)

Date: May 9 & 10, 2026

The second season of the concert program at Beton Cinema is starting.

This year’s edition once again brings a genre-diverse program that includes ambient and modular sound structures, improvised live sets, dub, reggae and bass music, as well as forms with industrial and ethno influences, experimental pop, and hybrid projects at the intersection of club sound and avant-garde practice.

This year the program is opening further toward the international scene, with guest performers from France, Serbia, and Spain. In addition to the concert program, Novi šum also includes open, free workshops led by the performers themselves.

CONCERT, May 9, at 9 PM – Tago Mago is a French psychedelic and progressive band from Rennes known for blending krautrock, progressive jazz, and improvised music. The duo consists of keyboardist Joris Prigent and drummer Léo Leroux, musicians who create a hypnotic and powerful sound through a minimalist setup. The band’s name is taken from the iconic album Tago Mago by the German band Can.

Their music draws on the legacy of bands such as Soft Machine, but brings a modern, raw, and experimental approach. It is characterized by repetitive rhythms, psychedelic keyboards, long improvised passages, and an energy reminiscent of a ritual musical journey. Their live performances are especially praised for their intensity and spontaneity.

Their debut album Traversée Sauvage, released in 2023, attracted the attention of underground psychedelic and progressive rock enthusiasts. The album combines trance grooves, jazz freedom, and krautrock pulse, creating a sound that is both retro and futuristic. Today, Tago Mago is considered one of the more interesting new names on the French alternative scene, and their work shows how the legacy of progressive rock and improvisation can be reinterpreted in a fresh and contemporary way.

WORKSHOP, May 10, at 11 AM, at Beton Kino – The day after the concert, Tago Mago will hold a workshop open to everyone interested, offering participants the opportunity to learn about their creative process, approach to improvisation, and gain direct experience working with the band beyond their unconventional live performances.

Participation in the workshop is free and no prior registration is required.

Tickets for the concert are available in advance via Adriaticket and at the entrance, priced at 5 euros in presale and 10 euros on the day of the concert. The number of seats is limited.

Note: The entrance to Beton Cinema is located on the south side of the Dom mladih building, next to the Faculty of Economics.
