Mediterranean film festival
The Mediterranean Film Festival Split (FMFS) has established itself as one of the highest-quality and most popular cultural events on the Adriatic, and its positive spirit over the past 18 years has been recognized by more than 250,000 visitors. Audiences have embraced the quality of its program, which primarily features films from the Mediterranean region with regional or Croatian premieres in Split, along with numerous accompanying events, parties, workshops, and guest meet-and-greets.
The 19th FMFS will take place from June 11 to June 20, 2026, across four locations, with more than 100 films screened over the course of the 10 festival days.
At its most recognizable venue, the Bačvice Open-Air Cinema, with a capacity of 700 seats, the main competition program is presented, featuring films of Mediterranean production, as well as the short film program “Ješke.” At Gripe Fortress, with a capacity of 250 seats, the program “The Other Side of the Mediterranean” showcases films from South American countries, while the Đardin hosts a selection of short films from guest festivals. In addition to these three open-air venues, the Festival also takes place at the Zlatna Vrata Cinematheque, where the “Parangal” program presents films from productions outside the Mediterranean basin, along with the “Little meDITEran” program intended for children and young audiences.
Alongside this “visible” segment of the Festival, it is important to highlight the Industry program, within which workshops and lectures are held during the Festival—some exclusively for film professionals, and others open to the general public.
