Lego Diocletian

Lego Diocletian

If there is anything most of Split visitors identify our city, than it's Diocletian's Palace. Listed since 1979 as part of the UNESCO's World Heritage List this monumental building marked a foundation of Split, no matter there are evidences of previous Greek and Roman settlements on this spot we like to consider the centre of the world, and the most beautiful place on Earth. Well, we have already learned all about Split modesty.
Now, there is a special plan which involves the Palace and globally known brand Lego. Local Lego enthusiast and collector Ilija Sundov designed what he believes might be great souvenir for everyone who ever visited or plan to visit Split - Diocletian's Palace made of those popular plastic bricks. So far, Ilija made a first step toward his goal; Lego Ideas has listed his design on its web site, and offered it for voting.
For those not completely mad about Lego, this page lets fans bring ideas of which monument should be included in Lego's catalogue, and opens voting for public. To become one of the winners, project needs to collect 10,000 votes in one year. So far, after only ten days, Diocletian's Palace reached close to 900 votes. As a comparison, only a month before deadline famed Golden Gate Bridge has only 90 votes, and the World Trade Center is at 15. So far, it seems that Ilija's dream project might really come true.
You like this idea, and love Split and its the most important landmark? Take a minute and vote, let our visitors have unique more-than-just-a-toy souvenir.
Of course, this is also nice promotion of Split. And even those who don't vote (and we will find you ) will learn about the Diocletian's 1,700 years old retirement home which turned into a modern city.
