The parish of the Holy Cross in Split’s Veli Varoš district has been celebrating the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross for six centuries. In the days leading up to the feast, a traditional three-day programme of Masses, prayer and special events takes place, culminating in the main celebration on Monday, September 14.

From September 11 to 13, the Rosary and confession will take place at 6:30 PM, followed by Mass at 7:00 PM. On Friday, September 11, a lecture entitled “Spiritual Sedative – Find Peace in the Lord” will be held at 8:00 PM, while Saturday, September 12, features a concert by the Choir of the Servants of the Infant Jesus at 8:00 PM.

On the feast day, Monday, September 14, Masses will be celebrated at 8:00 AM, 10:30 AM and 7:00 PM, with the solemn Mass taking place at 7:00 PM. At 6:00 PM, the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross will hold a sung evening prayer, followed by a traditional folk celebration at 8:00 PM.

The feast brings together parishioners, pilgrims and visitors in a celebration of faith, community and the centuries-old traditions of Veli Varoš.
