In October, the 1st Month of Gastronomy will take place in Split under the name "Štorije o' spize" (Food Stories).

A unique program in which many lovers of good food and perfect presentation will participate. Carefully thought-out dishes will be prepared in different catering facilities that will create unique "Štorije o´ spize".

As part of the gastronomic events, the International Taste the Mediterranean Festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and will bring distinguished foreign and domestic guests and professionals from the world of gastronomy to Split, stands out.



This is the year of the 10th anniversary of the Festival Taste the Mediterranean (TTM), which will be held in Split from October 4 to 9, 2022. 

A big anniversary, which also marks the 10th anniversary of the inclusion of the Mediterranean Diet in the UNESCO representative list of intangible cultural heritage. Along with Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Morocco, Cyprus, Croatia, with her Mediterranean Diet is also included in that prestigious list. From the very beginning, the Festival wanted to present, promote and preserve the Mediterranean food, gastronomy and domestic products, as well as the Mediterranean cultural heritage and the Mediterranean way of life. TTM brings together the best foreign and Croatian chefs, all with Michelin stars, Gault & Millau toques and other important awards. In addition to the chefs, food producers, winemakers and other experts from the field of gastronomy, sustainable tourism, agriculture and fishing, journalists and gourmets participate in the Festival.

The program includes professional workshops, lectures and panels, masterclasses by world culinary stars, wine tastings and four-hands dinners in the best Split restaurants (prepared by the guest chefs alongside the host chefs). Exchange of experiences, education and networking are the main goals of the Festival. In less than ten years, TTM has become an unavoidable gourmet event in this part of the Mediterranean. Good food, good wine, good fun is the motto of the Festival.

The first Gourmet Marathon will take place in the second half of October. 

In the following period, the Gourmet Marathon will be available to groups and individuals for purchase. The gourmet walk through Split will include visits to 3 to 5 restaurants, in each of which one course will be served (one dish) with an accompanying glass of wine, to experience the carefully designed Split gourmet menu. The October Split Gourmet Marathon will also include a tour of selected Split attractions presented through a gastronomic story.



This international festival Grand Gourmet includes international competition of catering schools, waiters, bartenders, barista and both national and international competition of restaurants represented by teams made of waiters and chefs. As part of the event we also have education sessions and competition of hospitality schools' students. Individual competition was designed as a presentation of waiters' personality and quality. On the other hand, team competition presents joint efforts of chefs who are preparing dishes for four persons, and waiters who serve those same dishes.

Each day of the Grand Gourmet includes morning lectures, education sessions and trainings, and competitions and exhibitions are scheduled in the afternoon. Main goal of this project is to promote, educate and improve skills and knowledge of hospitality industry personnel.

On October 14 & 15 and October 21 & 22, the WINE STORIES will take place in the Fish Market

The Wine Stories includes the presentation of winemakers and the tasting of autochthonous and forgotten varieties of wine from the Dalmatian region.

Along with the winemakers, every day of the festival, the Tourist Boards of the cities around Split will present themselves and enrich the festival's offer with their indigenous products.

Wines and products will be available for tasting and purchase at promotional prices every day of the Wine Stories festival from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Friday, October 14 – Tourist Board of Marina: tasting and sale of olive oil with an entertainment program

Saturday, October 15 - Tourist Board of Omiš: tasting and sale of soparnik with an entertainment program

Friday, October 21 - Tourist Board of Vrgorac: tasting and sale of prosciutto, pancetta, and wine with an entertainment program

Saturday, October 22 - Tourist Board of Kaštela: wine tasting and sale with an entertainment program



On October 22, 24, and 25, 2022, the Days of the Tourism and Hospitality School in Split take place.  

It is a three-day event that represents one step towards a better and sustainable tourism future for the city of Split, symbolically called FitSplit RCK (Future In Tourism).

October 22, 2022 - Prokurative (Republic's Square) from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - open day called "When I grow up, I will be... a Chef".

Students of the tourism school cook with the most famous Split chefs and prepare cocktails with a musical program.

October 24, 2022 - Career day for students of the Tourism School called "Today mentors...tomorrow employers" - starting at 10:00 a.m. in the SPINIT incubator.

The target group is students in the final grades of tourism school and partner schools, as well as participants in lifelong learning and adult education who enter the labor market after completing secondary education. As part of this event, a round table and panel discussions will take place, in which representatives of the local administration, employers, and employment intermediaries will participate.

October 25, 2022 - Education day for students of the Tourism School "The key to the right choice of study" starting at 10:00 a.m. in the SPINIT incubator

The target group is students in the final grades of tourism school and partner schools, as well as participants of lifelong learning and adult education who intend to continue their education in the tourism and hospitality sector. As part of the event, a round table and a panel discussion for experts in the field of education will take place.


October 29, 2022 - the visit of the Tourist Board of Sarajevo - Prokurative (Republic's square) from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Culinary gastro show - preparation of traditional Sarajevo specialties VS traditional Dalmatian specialties. Famous chefs from Sarajevo will come to Split and cook with colleagues from Split.
