The City Society of the Croatian Red Cross Split is proud to announce the charity flea market “Solidarity Is Always in Fashion”, which will take place on Saturday, 23 May 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00 in Đardin.

Through its regular activities, the Red Cross Split provides daily care for citizens in need through the collection and distribution of food and clothing. This May, this ongoing activity is being elevated to a new level and transformed into a modern sustainability movement. In a world where every second a truckload of textiles is discarded, the goal is clear: stop textile waste and say YES to kindness.

The concept “Can for a Piece” is based on a simple idea of solidarity as the “currency” of the event. Visitors in Đardin will be able to browse and choose their new favourite retro or modern clothing item from the donated collection, while “payment” is made by donating one can of food. All collected food will be donated to people in need under the regular care of the Red Cross. In this way, the event simultaneously protects the environment, reduces textile waste, and provides direct support to the most vulnerable.

Visitors can expect a pop-up boutique in a pleasant atmosphere with music, free coffee, and flavoured water, as well as “personal shopper” volunteers – young stylists helping guests select and combine clothing items. In addition, educational cards will be available on each rack with information about environmental protection and the impact of sustainable fashion, such as the fact that choosing second-hand clothing can save up to 2,700 litres of water.
