After sold-out performances in Zagreb, Osijek, and Rijeka, the Sarajevo-based pop-jazz sevdah ensemble is coming to Split!

Divanhana was founded in early 2009 by a group of students from the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo. They perform traditional music from the Balkan countries in new, recognizable arrangements influenced by jazz, pop, and classical music. A special focus is placed on preserving and presenting sevdah (a traditional urban folk music genre from Bosnia and Herzegovina). Alongside a highly dedicated and research-based approach to tradition, Divanhana also enriches its artistic output with original compositions inspired by traditional songs.

Divanhana has found a remarkable formula for bringing sevdah closer to its audience. The former students are now accomplished musicians with many years of experience, who have reinterpreted both well-known and lesser-known sevdalinka songs in their distinctive style. The outstanding vocalist Selma Droce will touch your heart with her voice. It is impossible to leave this concert without being emotionally moved.
