The Flower Festival, a traditional event marking the arrival of spring and the start of the tourist season, is celebrating its 48th edition this year. This international event has evolved into a craft fair that brings together producers, creatives, and flower enthusiasts.  

Program at Riva and Voćni trg  

At Riva, visitors can enjoy a flower and seedling market featuring producers from the Banovina region. The market will last for 15 days, covering three weekends. Meanwhile, Voćni trg will host a showcase of traditional crafts.  

Program in Diocletian’s Palace Cellars  

In honor of the 130th anniversary of the birth of musicians Ivo Tijardović and Jakov Gotovac, the festival will be thematically linked to their legacy, especially to the operetta Mala Floramye. Alongside the flower exhibition, the program will feature craft-related activities such as a fashion show, a hair show, and a hospitality and tourism event titled At the Emperor’s Table.  

Official Opening  

The official opening ceremony will take place on March 20 at 12 PM in Diocletian’s Palace Cellars, marking the start of the flower exhibition.  

Other Highlights  

As part of the Flower Festival, the newly renovated Botanical Garden on Marjan, managed by the Public Institution for the Management of Marjan Forest Park, will be opened. The garden will focus on educating visitors about Mediterranean biodiversity and the preservation of natural heritage.  

In cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Split Craftsmen's Association, an educational workshop LIFE CONTRA Ailanthus will be held, addressing the control of the invasive tree species Ailanthus altissima (Tree of Heaven). Additionally, on March 22, the Ministry will have an information stand at Riva providing details on Ailanthus removal and protection against invasive species.
