NEW WAVE 2026 /NEON LIES

Location: Kino Beton, Multimedia Cultural Centre (Ulica slobode 28)

Date: February 27 and 28, 2026

The second season of the concert program at Beton Kino is starting.

This year’s edition also presents a genre-diverse lineup, encompassing ambient and modular sound structures, improvised live sets, dub, reggae, and bass music, as well as forms influenced by industrial and ethnic traditions, experimental pop, and hybrid projects at the intersection of club sounds and avant-garde practices.

This year, the program further opens up to the international scene, featuring artists from France, Serbia, and Spain. In addition to the concerts, Novi šum also includes free open workshops led by the artists themselves.

Concert, February 27, at 9:00 PM: After performing on numerous European stages, NEON LIES is finally coming to Split, to Beton Kino, as part of the Novi šum program. NEON LIES is a Zagreb-based darkwave solo synth project by Goran Lautar, founded in 2016.

So far, he has released four albums on LP and EP vinyl, as well as on audio cassettes, all of which have received significant recognition from audiences and critics within underground electronic music circles. Known for emotional and impressive live performances, his material has also been featured on numerous international synth and darkwave compilations.

He regularly performs across Europe and has appeared at major European festivals such as Left Of The Dial Rotterdam, Eurosonic Groningen, Fekete Zaj Festival, Fluff Fest Rokycany (twice), SuperUho Primošten, SHIP Šibenik, Music Week Poland, MENT Ljubljana, etc. He has also shared the stage with prominent representatives of the synth and post-punk scene such as John Maus, Boy Harsher, Linea Aspera, No More, Riki, Ariel Pink, Buzz Kull, Nuovo Testamento, Belgrado, and many others.

The music is entirely produced and performed analogically using magnetic tape on a 4-track Tascam cassette recorder, with therapeutic motifs.

Workshop, February 28, at 11:00 AM: As part of the educational segment of the Novi šum program, Goran Lautar will hold a lecture/workshop the day after the concert. The workshop will focus on the use of a 4-track analog Tascam cassette recorder in the production of his music, as well as on electronic music production and live set-up based on his long-standing Lo-Fi experience.

Participation in the workshop is free, and no prior registration is required.

Concert tickets are available in advance via Adriaticket and at the entrance, half an hour before the concert, at the price of 5 euros.
