DALMATINA LIBRARY: CONCERT MANUSCRIPTS – DIEGO DIPI KVITKO

Location: Dalmatina Library (Zagrebačka 4)

Date: March 23, 2026, at 7:30 PM

The concert series “Musical Manuscripts” presents musicians of diverse styles and expressions to the audience – from singer-songwriter, jazz, and ethno music to contemporary classical and experimental directions, with a focus on original compositions.

In the first edition of Musical Manuscripts, Argentine guitarist Diego Dipi Kvitko will perform. He is a prominent figure in today’s tango scene, active as a guitarist, composer, arranger, and teacher. Born in Buenos Aires in 1975, at a time when tango had already begun its decline into mass production, Kvitko embraces the values of traditional tango while creatively transcending conformity in his artistic expression. He graduated as a teacher from the School of Popular Music in Avellaneda, where he developed a close relationship with guitar master Aníbal Arias. Known by the nickname Dipi, he studied with Arias and played for over ten years in his guitar quartet, Aníbal Troilo.

Alongside his solo projects, his numerous collaborations have connected him with Jorge Vidal, Leopoldo Federico, Jair, Víctor Lavallén, Peteco Carabajal, Walter “Chino” Laborde, Rudy Flores, Sandra Luna, José Ángel Trelles, Ricardo “Chiqui” Pereyra, Omar Molla, Daniel Meling, Hugo Rivas, and others. In 2013, in the documentary film Midsummer Night’s Tango, he traveled to Finland with vocalist Walter “Chino” Laborde and bandoneonist Pablo Greco to find out whether Aki Kaurismäki was telling the truth when he claimed that tango music was invented in Finland. Together with vocalist Walter Romer, he released two albums, Buffo!! (2018) and Tangoville (2024), and last summer they performed several concerts in Dalmatia.

At this concert, he will be joined by special guest Frane Pleadin from Šibenik.

The concert starts at 7:30 PM. Admission is free.
