Split Festival

Split Festival

Location: Prokurative - Republic Square

Date: July 1st - July 6th, 2025

The Split Festival is one of the most famous music festivals in this area and one of the significant symbols of the city under Marjan, which has left a serious mark in Croatian music industry and culture throughout its history. Over the years, various domestic and foreign names, organizers, and locations have alternated, but good songs have always found their way to their listeners. Passionate Dalmatia has repeatedly shown its inexhaustible source of creativity, and the Mediterranean is precisely the creative inspiration for various artists. The first Split Festival was held back in 1960, when fashion and music merged at the POŠK pools. Throughout its long festival history, over 940 compositions by the most significant domestic authors have been performed at the Split Festival, interpreted by the most famous names of the domestic music scene. Similarly, in 1967, the Festival moved to Prokurative, where it is still held today.

UNDER THE STARS OF PROKURATIVE

65th Split Festival: From Dalmatian Hits and New Songs to the Crème de la Crème of European Blues

Quality as a foundation, tradition, fresh creative energy, and an international atmosphere – these are the key elements of the 65th Split Festival, an event that celebrates and honors Dalmatian heritage while opening space for innovative musical voices bringing freshness and new perspectives, bridging the local, national, and global music scenes.

Something for everyone, and at the same time – everything for all. That’s how one might describe the rich program of the 65th Split Festival, which will take place from July 1 to July 6 on the most beautiful open-air stage – Split’s Prokurative. This unique venue will host four unforgettable evenings, each with its own distinct character: from raw energy and nostalgia to Mediterranean glamour and artistic passion.

The festival opens on July 1 with the 15th Split Blues FestivalIn Memoriam Jadran Zlodre Gobbo, offering audiences a true musical treat from the very start. Goran Bare & Majke, Croatia’s most prominent blues artist and performer, will headline this special evening, promising an unforgettable experience with the full spectrum of blues and rock. This musical highlight, aimed at both local audiences and international visitors, will also feature Alice Armstrong, British blues diva and winner of the 13th European Blues Challenge 2025, whose performance will bring the powerful energy that has captivated fans across Europe and the UK. The evening will be opened by the fantastic Norwegian blues guitarist Tommy Tito with his band, who was awarded Best Individual Performer at the same competition.

The second evening, July 3, brings a unique musical tribute – a gala concert by the HRT Jazz Orchestra led by Miron Hauser, performing the program “Tribute to Dino Dvornik”, pulsing with funk, soul, and deep emotion. This comes exactly 30 years after Dino’s triumph at the Split Festival with the song “Ništa kontra Splita.” Dino Dvornik’s work left an indelible mark on Croatian music and is deeply rooted in the collective memory of generations. From “Manijak” and “Slon”, to “Ella E”, “Tebi pripadam” and “Misliš da sam blesav”, the audience will be taken on a journey of memories by the exceptional Sabrina Hebiri and Mario Huljev, accompanied by lush swing/big band arrangements, with Prokurative echoing as a stage of remembrance and celebration.

On Saturday, July 5, Prokurative will transform into a cinematic setting – with a grand festival orchestra, various performers will present the most beautiful songs of Đelo Jusić in the musical stage program La Musica Di Notte. Jusić’s work defined his hometown Dubrovnik, Dalmatia, and the broader Croatian musical landscape. Among many gems from his opus that will resonate through Prokurative, the audience will enjoy hits such as “Volim te budalo mala,” “Dalmatinski lero,” “Moja Ane broji dane,” “U svakom slučaju te volim,” “Ča smo na ovom svitu,” “Zagrljeni,” “La Musica Di Notte”…

Performers will include: Ibrica Jusić, Jacques Houdek, Ivo Amulić, Paula Jusić, Klapa Kaše, Ema Jusić, Dean Dvornik, Ive Županović, Pero Panjković, Uršula Najev, Gabriela Braičić, Buco i Srđan, Branko Medak, Klapa Delmati… all accompanied by the grand festival orchestra conducted by Maestro Joško Banov.

The grand finale of the festival, if we’re allowed to highlight one evening, arrives on Sunday, July 6 – with the Evening of New Original Songs. Both the audience and expert jury will select the best of Croatia’s musical present, and the evening will culminate with the announcement of the winner – a traditional moment filled with both tears and smiles. This year, the competitive night brings 25 new songs, selected through a public call. We’ll hear a broad spectrum of genres – from Dalmatian chanson, jazz stylizations, pure rock, island romanticism, traditional klapa singing, bel canto, to Eurovision-style pop arrangements. The final night of the Split Festival once again promises a true spectacle of light, visuals, and sound – and a fierce contest for the prestigious title of the Split Festival winner.
