Educational–Art Workshop: “Ojkanje Lives!
Location: Ethnographic Museum Split (Iza Vestibula 4)
Dates: April 11–12, 2026
“Ojkanje Lives!” – Experience the Voice of Tradition The Ethnographic Museum Split will host a unique workshop dedicated to ojkanje—one of the oldest forms of traditional Croatian vocal music.
The workshop will take place on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The final presentation will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
Through a combination of theory and practice, participants will:
- learn the vocal “shaking” technique
- listen to archival and contemporary recordings
- actively participate in singing
- explore the cultural and historical context of the Dinaric region
The workshop is open to everyone—regardless of musical experience!
