DALMATINA LIBRARY: MUSICAL MANUSCRIPTS – MARIJANA VUKO

DALMATINA LIBRARY: MUSICAL MANUSCRIPTS – MARIJANA VUKO

Location: Dalmatina Library (Zagrebačka 4)

Time: May 21, 2026, at 7:30 PM

In the third edition of “Glazbeni rukopisi” (Musical Manuscripts), a concert series taking place this year at the Dalmatina Library, singer-songwriter Marijana Vuko will perform.

Originally from the Dalmatian hinterland, Marijana has been releasing and performing her original songs in Germany for twenty-five years. She has been awarded at world music festivals as well as on the German children’s music scene. She works as a music educator and lecturer, and expresses her connection to her roots through musical works that she consistently composes and performs in the Croatian language.

As a professor and Germanist, she plays with Croatian words, arranging and singing them in an unusual way. She describes this approach by saying:

“When I play with Croatian words, I feel free—everything sounds new and interesting, and I get excited like a child when I find something good.”

Her songs are a journey through a world full of wonder and insight, but also through struggles with a reality that is not always beautiful. In an authentic and humorous way, she shares her life stories with the audience—her weaknesses, battles, defeats, insights, and successes.

After recently returning to Croatia, she has devoted herself even more intensely to her music, which she now presents to the local audience.

The concert begins at 7:30 PM. Admission is free.
