Exhibition “Split Watercolor – From Happening to Exhibition” by artist Petar Grimani

 Location: Gallery Studio-21- (Velebitska 66)

Time: January 31, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM

On Saturday, January 31, Gallery Studio-21- will host the final event of the interdisciplinary art project “Split Watercolor – From Happening to Exhibition” by artist Petar Grimani. Conceived as both an opening and a closing, the event marks the culmination of a multi-week process that transformed the gallery into a living laboratory of artistic research.

The closing evening concludes a process that began on December 22, 2025, during which the gallery functioned as a space of continuous creation, experimentation, and interaction with the public. The project is conceived as an open format in which the exhibition does not emerge as a finished product, but rather develops in real time before the audience.

Split Watercolor is envisioned as a homage to the work of Ivo Tijardović, drawing from the artistic and spiritual dialogue between Tijardović and Emanuel Vidović, two artists who profoundly shaped the Mediterranean identity of Split. Through this project, Grimani blurs the boundaries between the studio, happening, musical performance, and exhibition space, exploring the exhibition itself as an ongoing process.

Throughout the project, the artist worked daily within the gallery, allowing visitors to witness the creation of artworks, the exchange of ideas, and the gradual transformation of the space. Guests of the project included Ilija Šoškić, whose evening featured a film screening followed by a discussion with the audience, as well as Split-based musicians Nikola Radman and Vladimir Garić, who contributed to the atmosphere of the open laboratory through ambient guitar soundscapes.

On the final evening, January 31, Radman and Garić will once again perform an ambient guitar soundscape (guitars and guitar treatments), accompanied by original video projections and a spatial environment created by Petar Grimani. The event represents the culmination of a layered process in which music, image, movement, and space merge into a single, immersive experience.

The program takes place at Gallery Studio-21- on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM, with additional surprises announced throughout the evening.
