There is music that doesn’t impose itself, but seduces; music that doesn’t need to be loud for you to surrender to it. On their debut album Détends-toi, and later on their second, freshly released album, Stella and the Longos do something rare and precious: they create dance music that never loses its elegance or romance, and never slips into sentimentality.

The band dances thoughtfully and convincingly through the world of zouk, a dance and musical language born in the early 1980s in the French overseas territories, blending it with boogie and the sensibility of 1980s pop so naturally it feels as if this fusion has always existed. Once a world dominated by percussion, brass instruments, and fast tempos, it later gave way to the synthesizers typical of the era. Stella and the Longos take this entire universe as a whole and transform it into something new, fresh, confident, and authentic.

We could say much more about the band, because they deserve nothing but praise—but we won’t. Instead, we invite you to come, relax, and for one night forget where you are; close your eyes and enjoy with us a soundtrack to a summer that lasts longer than it should.

Symbolically—and perfectly—it is with this kind of music that we celebrate the 8th birthday of Adriatic Social Club: eight years of gathering, dancing, discovering, laughter, and all the encounters that bring us together. Eight years of stubborn love for what has true value and refuses to compromise.
