EXHIBITION BY MATEO PERASOVIĆ:"Büyük Menderes"

Following its premiere in Zagreb, the exhibition Büyük Menderes by Mateo Perasović will also be presented to the Split audience.
This exhibition offers art lovers in the city beneath Marjan the opportunity to explore half a century of creative work by this distinguished Split artist. It features a cycle of works created in a technique which, according to Branko Franceschi, Director of the National Museum of Modern Art and curator of the exhibition, Perasović himself invented and refined over years of experimentation: “It is a technique that involves a specific method of painting on glass, which is then placed in front of mirrors in colors – green, red, silver, and gold.”
Educated as a traditional visual artist in the graphic medium, Perasović has throughout his professional career boldly dedicated himself to exploring artistic phenomena, recognized for his perfectionist execution and unique production that transcends conventional boundaries of artistic disciplines.
“His interest in content goes beyond formal research and is focused on interpretations of philosophical and cosmic connotations that emerge from elementary geometric forms, their combinations, and layering,” Franceschi emphasizes.
The exhibition presents 18 recent works in mixed media, created between 2023 and 2025, each named after specific geographical locations with rich cultural histories, such as the Büyük Menderes (the Great Meander). These works will remain on view at the Emanuel Vidović Gallery until the end of October.
“The exhibition Büyük Menderes by Mateo Perasović is a special homage to the artist’s fifty-year creative journey. Despite his classical training, he courageously embraced the exploration of contemporary graphic practices and materials,” said Vesna Bulić Baketić, Director of the Split City Museum.
“His works embody a fusion of the universal and the intimate, the philosophical and the visually lavish, bearing witness to inexhaustible energy and innovation that continues to evolve. We are honored to present this exhibition to our Split audience.”
The exhibition Büyük Menderes by Mateo Perasović will open at the Emanuel Vidović Gallery on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 12 p.m., and will remain on view until the end of the month.
