EXHIBITION BY DALIBOR MARTINIS: "EXHIBITION OF FORGOTTEN WORKS D.M."

Location: Gallery Manuš (Palmotićeva 19)

Dates: August 22 – October 17, 2025

Transmedial artist Dalibor Martinis, through his explorations and experimental analysis of the question of whether it is still possible—via a conceptual-visual approach to the boundaries of contemporary art—to open a space-time of transition beyond the limits of works and events, addresses precisely what has been, and still remains, the most challenging problem of contemporary philosophy and art in general.

In his "exhibitions," the artist connects his own experience of remembering the forgetting of an object or event that grants meaning, with the essential premise that the works presented here are the result of the primary idea that memory precedes forgetting, and not the other way around. Negation is not the beginning of the world, if it is already its end.

Dalibor Martinis was born in Zagreb in 1947. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. He has been exhibiting since 1969, and has been active as a video artist since 1973. His main field of work is expanded media (video, installations, performances). He has held numerous solo exhibitions, performances, and screenings, and has participated in many international exhibitions.
