Mladi izlažu: U Zoni razgledajte Meku kuću i okušajte se u taftanju

Location: Club Zona (Jerina 1)

Date: September 5 - 23, 2026

The fifth exhibition in the eleventh edition of the Young Artists at Zona programme will be opened by Franka Iskra and Leo Subanović. The exhibition opening will take place on Saturday, September 5, at 6 PM, and the exhibition will be on view until September 23.

Alongside a conversation with the artists, the opening programme will feature a tufting workshop, giving visitors the opportunity to try out this fascinating textile technique themselves.

The Meka Kuća project explores the feeling of warmth and comfort that home provides. The artists express this idea through tufting – a technique used to create a raised, textured surface by punching yarn through a stretched fabric backing with a tufting needle.

In addition to presenting their work and discussing the project, the artists will lead a hands-on workshop where participants can try tufting for themselves and learn how to use the necessary tools.

“Join us in creating a feeling of home,” invites Blaženka Miše, curator of the exhibition.

Franka Iskra (1998) and Leo Subanović (1999) grew up in Zagreb, where they both graduated from the School of Applied Arts and Design before continuing their studies at the Faculty of Textile Technology. Franka regularly exhibits as part of Zagreb Design Week and was among the finalists in the professional works category in 2025.

In 2016, Leo received an award for a group project at the 43rd Ambienta exhibition in Zagreb in the product design category. He also received a special recognition at the 21/22 Croatian Design Exhibition, exhibited at the Textile Biennial in Slovenia in 2023, and in 2025 received the Rigo Gallery Award, presented by the Lapidarium Museum in Novigrad.
