Location: Public spaces within Diocletian’s Palace (5 Frane Bulića Street and 3–1 Severova Street)

On Wednesday, 9 September, Split-based academic painter Alma Čače will present two art performances in the public spaces of Diocletian’s Palace as part of her project “Natural Imperfections.”

The first, a solo performance, will take place at 10:00 AM at 5 Frane Bulića Street, next to a Roman mosaic. The second, a participatory performance, will begin at 6:00 PM at 3–1 Severova Street, next to the entrance to the Ethnographic Museum. Passers-by will be invited to take part in creating a new artwork by leaving their own mark on a canvas spread out on the ground, using the artist’s handmade brushes.

The “Natural Imperfections” project explores the relationship between nature, artistic tools and the creative process. Alma Čače creates brushes from driftwood, dried plants, leaves and other materials found in the environment. Their natural shapes and textures leave unpredictable marks on the canvas, becoming an integral part of the finished artwork.

By moving the artistic process from the gallery and studio into public space, art becomes accessible to everyone. Visitors are not merely observers but can become active participants in the creation of the artwork.

Both performances are open to the public and participation is free of charge.
