The University Gallery in Split is hosting an exhibition by Croatian painter Davorin Radić, organized by Brešan Gallery.

Davorin Radić (Hrvatska Kostajnica, 1957) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he studied under Vasilije Jordan. He subsequently worked at the Master Workshop of Ljubo Ivančić and Nikola Reiser.

As curator Igor Brešan notes in the exhibition catalogue, Radić began his artistic exploration by drawing inspiration from the great masters of painting who shaped and inspired him, from Vincent van Gogh to Vlaho Bukovac and Celestin Medović. His paintings bring together an impressionistic atmosphere, the power of expressionism and a distinctive use of colour. In his portraits and self-portraits, psychological states and personality take precedence over simply recording physical appearance.

Radić remains faithful to figurative painting and to his belief in the power of the image – an image that is not merely a representation of reality, but a space of beauty and imagination that invites us to pause, observe and experience.

There will be no traditional opening ceremony this time. Instead, we invite you to the official closing of the exhibition on 3 September 2026 at 8:00 PM, when you will have the opportunity to meet the artist Davorin Radić and curator Igor Brešan.

The exhibition is open to visitors:

• 17–21 August: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
• From Monday, 24 August: the Gallery returns to its regular opening hours, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
