On Friday, 15 May 2026, at 7:00 PM, the Gallery of Photography of Photo Club Split will open the solo exhibition of photographs by young Split-based artist Karmen Ivančić – “Home”.

The series of 24 digital photographs was created within the course Film Photography at the Arts Academy in Split, under the mentorship of Mirko Pivčević and Vicko Vidan. Starting from an exploration of the relationship between design and photography, Ivančić shapes visually precise and carefully constructed interior scenes that feel both familiar and slightly displaced, as if everyday spaces have been translated into their own stylised reality.

Pastel and vibrant tones, flat compositions without pronounced shadows, and reduced relationships between objects create an atmosphere that evokes the visual language of advertising, catalogues, and digital representations of an idealised home. However, despite the controlled framing, the photographs do not feel cold. Traces of life remain within them: a plant in need of watering, a cat caught in motion, the arrangement of objects revealing someone’s habits and daily rituals. Although the photographs were taken in different locations, their consistent visual language makes them appear as a unified space in which a quiet, almost cinematic everyday life unfolds. Ivančić carefully removes everything that could disrupt the relationships within the frame, creating images that balance between documentary record and staged scene. As noted in the curatorial text by Filipa Dora Ćapeta, it is precisely this tension between presence and absence, the personal and the artificial, that leaves space for the viewer to step into “Home”.
