Time: May 23, 2025, at 8:00 PM

On the second day of Zagreb Film’s guest program at the Amphitheatre of Dom mladih, on Friday, May 23 at 8 PM, seven short films by various generations of filmmakers will be presented. These films explore the Mediterranean and its layered landscapes – physical, emotional, and social. A program full of life, nostalgia, conflict, transformation, and inner struggle will be introduced by Sanja Borčić, Head of International Cooperation and Special Projects at Zagreb Film.

FISH EYE - dir. Joško Marušić (1980, 9’)
In a peaceful fishing village where generations live in harmony with the sea and landscape, life flows in a familiar rhythm. But one night, that order is disrupted, and the morning brings doubt: was it reality, fiction, or a symbolic warning that we can never truly detach from nature?

THE BAIT - dir. Dinko Kumanović (2010, 2’)
The sea, a man, a fish… A few miracles and human weaknesses.

SATURATION - dir. Lucija Bužančić (2022, 10’)
From the cracks and walls of a coastal town, something begins to grow, gradually filling every empty space – gentrification transforming a vibrant place into an archaeological monument.

IN THE CITY'S NEIGHBORHOOD - dir. Joško Marušić (2006, 9’)
A young couple’s lives are marked by love, violence, and the struggle for daily survival. Though they have never set foot in the city across the bay, they become a metaphor for it. Their fate, told through the symbolism of a lantern’s light in the sea’s darkness, speaks of loss, the search for meaning, and hope for those who follow.

THE ISLAND - dir. Tea Nucak (2017, 5’)
While only fleeting pleasure exists on Earth, the secret of happiness remains unknown. The island becomes a space of permanence – of color, sound, scent, and horizon – with which a person merges, creating a continuum of fulfillment.

LITTLE LIBERO - dir. Mladen Stanić (2021, 18’)
Boško is an unfulfilled father with grand ambitions he tries to achieve through his eleven-year-old son Petar. When he takes him to a selection training for Hajduk, unaware of the pressure he is placing on him, tension between them escalates. Petar’s breakdown forces Boško to confront his own parental shortcomings and the consequences of his unfulfilled dreams.
