EXHIBITION BY PETAR VRANJKOVIĆ: "SOURCE-ARCHIVE B/FA–A(SA/EMS)"
Location: Gallery of Fine Arts (Ulica kralja Tomislava 15)
Dates: September 4, 2025 – September 28, 2025
On Thursday, September 4, at 7 p.m., the exhibition source–archive B/FA–A(SA/EMS) will open at the Gallery of Fine Arts in Split. The artist, Petar Vranjković, starting from an object that came into his possession under unclear circumstances and at an undetermined time, develops a work that unsettles the archive as a site of discursive power and opens within it spaces for speculative interpretations that also carry utopian potential.
The installation consists of three tapestries and three smaller artifacts – one from the artist’s private collection and two from the collection of the Ethnographic Museum Split.
Petar Vranjković (1997) is a transmedia artist and researcher who works with objects from various archives, as well as with photography, video, graphics, and design. He holds a Master’s degree from the Department of Animated Film and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. His work is particularly concerned with the shaping of memory and storytelling through artistic narratives. One of the central themes of his practice is the intimate history of the individual, which always constitutes an interpretation of the heritage, traditions, and culture of a given community in time and space.
Vranjković’s recent solo exhibitions were held at Garaža Kamba (Zagreb, 2024); the Vjenceslav Richter and Nada Kareš Richter Collection (Zagreb, 2023); and the Miroslav Kraljević Gallery (Zagreb, 2022). He has also presented his work at the 42nd Split Salon and the 36th Youth Salon in Zagreb.
The exhibition is part of the qEXHIBITIONS program line of the queerANarchive collective and is realized in collaboration with the Gallery of Fine Arts. qEXHIBITIONS is a regular program of the queerANarchive collective that contributes to shaping queer discourse in the city of Split. queerANarchive is a collective for the development, research, and critical examination of queer culture that has been active since 2010. At a time of normalization of the LGBT community and retraditionalization of society, it addresses the particularities of queer culture.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until September 28, from Tuesday to Sunday during museum opening hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
