Date: April 14, 2025, at 8:00 PM

On Monday, April 14 at 8:00 PM, the film evenings organized byPhoto club Split continue with a free screening of the award-winning documentary about one of the world’s most renowned photographers, Thomas Hoepker.

In 2017, Hoepker was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The man behind countless photographs that have become part of our collective memory was slowly losing his own. The film Dear Memories follows his last great dream: a road trip across the United States with his wife Christine. An emotional journey that would become both Thomas Hoepker’s final major photo reportage and the crowning achievement of his life’s work.

Thomas Hoepker (1936–2024) was a renowned German photographer and a member of the prestigious agency MAGNUM Photos. He gained international recognition for his documentary photography capturing social change, cultures, and everyday life around the world. He is best known for his photos from the United States and Cuba, as well as the iconic image of the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York. His work is marked by a subtle yet powerful approach to social issues, often telling profound stories of human struggle and identity. Despite his Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2017, Hoepker completed his final major project—a journey across the U.S. with Christine, captured through the lens of his camera.
