In less than a month, Split will become a hub of visual culture. Cyan Festival is back!

The Cyan Festival of Visual Culture returns to Split for its fourth edition, bringing together international and regional experts in graphic design, typography, photography, illustration, architecture, wayfinding and other fields of visual culture.

Cyan Festival of Visual Culture is an international festival dedicated to contemporary practices in graphic design, photography, architecture, typography, illustration, animation and visual communication. The festival brings together creatives from different disciplines and generations, offering professionals and aspiring creatives an opportunity to expand their knowledge and connect with experts from various fields of visual culture.

The festival is intended for professionals, students and anyone interested in education and professional development in the field of visual culture. The fourth edition of the Cyan Festival will take place from September 30 to October 3, 2026.

The festival opens on September 30 with a gathering and social event.

On October 1, the program continues with the opening of the poster exhibition Under the Ground by Mate Žaja at Kvart Gallery. Mate Žaja is an independent designer based in Split. His work focuses primarily on branding and the development of visual identities, with a particular interest in projects related to culture, non-profit organizations and the underground scene. He works across a range of media and formats, while print design continues to hold a special place in his practice. He regularly exhibits at professional exhibitions in Croatia and abroad and occasionally mentors and assists at design workshops. He is a member of the Croatian Designers Association and the Redakcija collective.

On October 2 and 3, the main festival program will take place at the Croatian Home Split, featuring talks by international and regional creatives.

This year’s speakers include:

Jonathan Castro Alejos – a graphic designer and multidisciplinary artist from Lima, based in Rotterdam. Since 2023, he has been the artistic director of Dekmantel Festival in Amsterdam, where he develops the visual identity of one of the world’s leading electronic music festivals. His practice brings together graphic design, sound, video, installation and performance.

Allan Dransfield – a photographer, designer and visual artist from Poland. His work stems from an interest in the world around us, using photography, sound, objects and various media to construct new narratives and explore the relationship between individual and collective experience.

Tea Jurišić / TEA KVAR – a Croatian illustrator and muralist whose work is rooted in storytelling, surrealism and humour. She has created numerous murals and public art projects in Croatia and abroad, developing a distinctive visual language through illustration and large-scale wall works.

Prof. Claudia Pasquero / ecoLogicStudio – an architect and researcher and one of the leading practitioners in the field of climate-active architecture. As co-founder of the London-based studio ecoLogicStudio, she develops projects at the intersection of architecture, ecology and biotechnology, including experimental systems that use algae and other living organisms as part of architectural infrastructure.

Rick Banks – a designer from Manchester and founder of F37® and Anti Average®. His work is particularly focused on typography and branding, and he has received recognition from D&AD and the Type Directors Club. His work and typographic products have been presented and sold at institutions including the London Design Museum, Tate Modern and MoMA.

David Pearson – a British designer specialising in print-led design, with typography playing a central role in his work. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with names such as Wes Anderson, Ferrari, Hermès, The New York Times, Penguin Books, Rick Rubin and the V&A. He is a member of the international design organisation Alliance Graphique Internationale and holds the title of Royal Designer for Industry.

ARCHITECTURE – Peter, Boštjan and Aleš Gabrijelčič – an architectural studio based in Ljubljana, active in architecture, urban planning and design since 1997. Their approach is characterised by a combination of rationality and poetry, with a strong focus on spatial, historical, technological and social contexts.

b – an author, radio presenter and consultant specialising in design, cartography, typography and public transport architecture. He is the author of more than 20 books, and his long-standing work connects design, cities, mobility and the ways in which people move through public space.

The Cyan Festival concludes on October 3 with a concert by RØLØ at the Croatian Home Split following the festival talks. The evening continues with a social gathering at our favourite Adriatic Social Club.
