In anticipation of International Museum Day, celebrated on May 18, Koribant Lab and the Museum of Fine Arts Split present a performative-discursive event: choreographic fragments from the contemporary dance experiment Harmonies, accompanied by a panel discussion on the theme Dance in the Museum – Saturday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m.

This contemporary dance experiment is inspired by the poem We Are the Only Real Media by Slovenian poet and dramaturge Tibor Hrs Pandur. It explores the relationship between text and body on both individual and collective levels, examining the semantic charge of words as they are absorbed, processed, and transmitted through movement – across boundaries, through the body, and into space.

The panel aims to encourage dialogue and reflection on the role of dance and performative bodily practices in communicating with the public and expanding the experience of museum collections, as well as the perception of dance in non-stage contexts. By gathering a diverse group of panelists, the discussion will offer multiple perspectives on both museological and performative contexts, highlighting personal insights and potential approaches to performing dance within gallery and museum spaces.
