Last Chance to Visit the "Memento mori" Exhibition
The "Memento mori" exhibition at the Archaeological Museum in Split is coming to an end, and Thursday, February 27, 2025, offers a special opportunity for all visitors. Museum entry will be free throughout the day, and a free guided tour of the exhibition will take place at 5:00 PM.
"Memento mori" presents extraordinary archaeological discoveries from the Western Necropolis of Salona, excavated during the construction of the Solin bypass in the 1980s. Through the analysis of 615 graves (dating from the 1st to the 6th century) and discovered artifacts, the exhibition reveals the burial customs and values of ancient Salona’s inhabitants. Using modern technology, visitors can, for the first time, see reconstructions of their faces, making this exhibition a unique blend of archaeology and contemporary science.
More than just a historical narrative, "Memento mori" explores the cultural significance of these findings today. It is a journey into identity, uncovering secrets of the past and linking them to our present.
Take this opportunity to experience the fascinating story of the exhibition before it closes!
