EXHIBITION BY ARIJANA LEKIĆ-FRIDRIH AND ANDREA KAŠTELAN: “SILENCES THAT REMAIN – from 5 to 95”

Location: MKC Gallery – Youth Center Split (Ulica slobode 28)

Date: May 8 – May 26, 2026, opening at 8 p.m.

The Od5Do95 project by Arijana Lekić-Fridrih and Andrea Kaštelan is a long-term artistic and research platform that has been collecting and connecting the experiences of women aged 5 to 95 since 2016 through a participatory methodology.

Each participant represents one year of life, transforming individual experiences into a collective timeline of women’s lives. The project uses audio, video, photography, and sound installations to create a hybrid documentary-artistic language in which participants’ voices function as presence rather than representation.

The exhibition Silences That Remain focuses on the unspoken — gaps, interruptions, and silences — which become a space for reflection and active listening by the audience. As an open archive in constant formation, the project continuously expands and relocates women’s experiences into the public space, changing their social visibility.

The project was awarded the SozialMarie Prize in 2021 and is authored by Arijana Lekić-Fridrih (MA in Film and TV Directing, documentary film specialization, Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb) and Andrea Kaštelan (MA in Film and Video Camera, ADU Zagreb).
