The fifth edition of the Split Photo Salon also marks a mini-anniversary of the event launched by Fotoklub Split in 2022. The creation of an international photography salon in Split was a natural continuation of the Club’s activities, which, over more than seventy years of continuous work, has made a significant contribution to the development of the local photography scene—and to the shaping of the national photography corpus—through the work of its members and the exhibition program of the Photography Gallery.

This year’s edition features 122 artists from eight countries. The selection of works and awarded photographs was determined by a professional jury composed of: Leila Topić, art historian, museum advisor, and head of the Photography, Film, and Video Collection at the Museum of Contemporary Art, who also served as the chair of this year’s jury and curator of the fifth edition of the Salon; Aida Redžepagić, photographer, educator, and cultural producer, internationally recognized as the founder and executive director of the Sarajevo Photography Festival; and French photographer Brice Gelot, known for his raw and powerful black-and-white street photography.

As in previous years, participants competed in three categories: free theme black-and-white, free theme color, and, this year, the third theme: everyday. Three awards and one honorable mention were given in each category, and a selection of 45 of the best photographs—15 from each category—will be displayed in the exhibition catalog as well as in the Fotoklub Split Photography Gallery.
