Summer Magic of Classical Music is a long-standing summer festival of the Split Music Youth that has gradually grown into an important cultural event in the city of Split. The festival aims to enrich the concert and cultural offerings of the city during the summer months, providing citizens and their guests with top-notch musical experiences in ambient spaces in the heart of Split.

As in previous years, this year's thirteenth edition of the festival continues its primary focus - collaboration with young musicians. Additionally, the festival fosters international cultural cooperation and this year collaborates with artists from Austria, Slovenia, Canada, and Norway.

The festival would not exist without the collaboration of the Split Music Youth, the main sponsor, the Tourist Board of the City of Split, and the hosts in the beautiful spaces of the Museum of the City of Split. The program runs from mid-June to the end of September, featuring eight concerts, six in the cellars of Diocletian's Palace, and two in the newly renovated Old City Hall managed by the Museum of the City of Split.

Mak Grgić (short bio .pdf), the artistic director of the Zagreb Guitar Festival, has been described by The New York Times as "imaginative, gifted, and expressive," and by The Washington Post as "a guitarist to keep an eye on." He is an innovative musician whose diverse activities in music encompass works from the avant-garde to film scores and major classical guitar repertoires. In the 2016/17 season, Mak will release new works under the MicroFest Records label, a prestigious Grammy Award winner.

Mak Grgić was born in Ljubljana and studied guitar in Zagreb under the mentorship of the esteemed professor Ante Čagalj at the Elly Bašić Conservatory. He graduated in the class of Alvaro Pierri at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna.

He recently completed his doctorate at the USC Thornton School of Music under the guidance of William Kanengiser and Scott Tennant from the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. Currently, he teaches at Mount St. Mary's University in Los Angeles and serves as the artistic director of the M.A.R.S. Interdisciplinary Arts Festival and the Zagreb Guitar Festival.
