The “(Meta)Physical” exhibition opens at Milesi Palace on September 1, presenting two contemporary Italian artists, Antonio Servillo and Pino Tersigni, to the Croatian public for the first time. Although their artistic approaches differ, both artists use painting to explore the human being and their place in the contemporary world.

Antonio Servillo draws on metaphysical and surrealist imagery, exploring the relationship between people, technology and space. His figures often become part of complex mechanisms that bring together human and technological elements, raising questions about contemporary society, technological progress and the transformation of human identity.

Pino Tersigni places the human body at the centre of his painting. Through movement and bodily posture, his hyperrealist figures explore emotions, vulnerability and the inner world of the individual.

The works of the two artists come together in an exploration of the relationship between the external and internal worlds – between the technological and social changes that shape us and the need to preserve our humanity in such a world.

Both artists are actively involved with Cento Pittori Via Margutta, the historic Roman artists’ association associated with Via Margutta, a renowned street traditionally known as a gathering place for artists. Servillo has served as the association’s president since 2024, while Tersigni is a member of its Board of Directors.

The opening ceremony will feature a programme of music and gastronomy, including a performance by the Floramye String Quartet.
