Time Walk: Guided Walking Tour with VR Experience

Time Walk: Guided Walking Tour with VR Experience

Time Walk is Split’s first mixed-reality walking tour that allows visitors to simultaneously experience the city’s ancient ruins and a full reconstruction of Diocletian’s Palace as it stood in 305 AD.

The tour takes place within the UNESCO-listed Old Town of Split and uses Meta Quest 3 headsets to deliver two short, cinematic VR scenes (approximately 5 minutes in total). These immersive moments bring Roman history to life, featuring Emperor Diocletian, Roman soldiers, and ceremonial life inside the original palace. At the same time, guests continue to see the real archaeological remains around them, creating a seamless blend of past and present.

The rest of the experience is a traditional guided walking tour led by a licensed local guide through 1,700 years of Split’s history.

What the tour includes:

  • Licensed local guide leads guests through the main landmarks of the Old Town
  • Golden Gate of Diocletian’s Palace – entrance to the heart of the ancient palace
  • Peristyle and central areas of Diocletian’s Palace
  • Cathedral of Saint Domnius
  • Diocletian’s cellars
  • Walk through the historic Old Town streets
  • Finish at Split’s waterfront promenade, Riva
  • VR experience included
