This year the program is opening further toward the international scene, with guest performers from France, Serbia, and Spain. In addition to the concert program, Novi šum also includes open, free workshops led by the performers themselves.
CONCERT // Friday, April 10th. BETON KINO / 9 PM, immediately after the concert the band will hold a workshop.
This year, the first international act is coming to Novi Šum – Sax Machine, a French hip-hop/jazz project that combines saxophone, beats, and live improvisation. The band is led by saxophonist Guillaume Sené, with American MC RacecaR as a permanent collaborator.
Sax Machine originated in France and is based on the fusion of live saxophone, beatmaking, and rap, where jazz improvisation is combined with hip-hop production and funk grooves.
Sax Machine is primarily a live-oriented band, known for performances using loopers and effects. The saxophone plays a central role, but it is often processed through effects and takes on the function of lead, bass, or rhythmic element.
Over the years, they have performed at international festivals and tours, including the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal and Festival d'été de Québec, as well as on numerous European and international stages (Europe, Canada, USA, Africa, India).
Their concerts are based on groove, improvisation, and audience interaction, which makes each performance unique and different from studio recordings.
In their discography, the album “Bubbling” (2017) stands out, which positioned them on the international scene, along with the more recent project “The Glow” (2023), where they further develop the electronic and production aspects of their sound.
Concert tickets are available in advance via Adriaticket and at the entrance, 30 minutes before the start of the concert, at a price of 5 euros. Seating is limited.
Note: The entrance to Beton Cinema is located on the south side of the Dom mladih building, next to the Faculty of Economics.
