The Split premiere of the award-winning film “The Voice of Hind Rajab” will take place this Sunday, 23 November at 8 p.m. at the Croatian National Theatre Split, marking the beginning of a new season of the “Cinema in the Theatre” programme.

The film had its world premiere in the competition programme of the Venice Film Festival, where it received the Grand Jury Prize and earned the longest recorded ovation in the history of any film festival—more than 23 minutes.

It has been nominated for the European Film Award in the Best Film category, screened and awarded at numerous other international festivals, and is Tunisia’s submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. The film has also been supported by world-renowned actors and directors as co-producers: Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Alfonso Cuarón, and Jonathan Glazer.

Director Kaouther Ben Hania, a two-time Oscar nominee (“Four Daughters” and “The Man Who Sold His Skin”), presents a film based on true events, using authentic audio recordings that spread worldwide in January of last year.

On 29 January 2024, Red Crescent volunteers received an emergency call: six-year-old Hind Rajab was trapped in a car under fire in Gaza, pleading to be rescued. As they tried to keep her on the line, they did everything they could to send an ambulance to her.

This premiere marks the beginning of the third season of the “Cinema in the Theatre” programme, jointly organised by the Mediterranean Film Festival Split and the Croatian National Theatre Split.
