The exhibition was created as part of the Project for Digitization, Research, and Presentation of the Field Reports Archive of the Ethnographic Museum Split (1950–1990). The project was submitted to the 2024–2025 Call for Funding of Public Cultural Needs from the Budget of Split-Dalmatia County. It was accepted and co-financed by Split-Dalmatia County and the City of Split.

This exhibition presents the field research conducted by the Ethnographic Museum Split between 1950 and 1990 and the people involved in it. Through a selection of the most significant field sites by decade, the exhibition highlights the beginnings of the museum’s systematic ethnographic work, which, after World War II, focused on studying the material and spiritual culture of local communities.

The featured fieldwork stands out for its scale, diversity of research subjects, geographic coverage, and rich documentation, making this period the most productive in the museum’s more than century-long history.
