Castle Singers & Kammerstreicher - Waverly, Iowa US

We are pleased to announce a concert by the Castle Singers and Chamber Orchestra, the renowned ensemble of Wartburg College from the USA, which will take place on May 8th at the concert hall of the Croatian Home "Ivo Tijardović" in Split. Since their establishment in 1950, the Castle Singers have been synonymous with musical excellence. Under the direction of Dr. E. Arne Hovdesven, the choir was a leading performer of sacred music on the Wartburg campus.

The ensemble, under the direction of Dr. James Fritschel, was renamed to its current name to reflect its broad repertoire. With a few conductors over the years, this select ensemble has shifted its repertoire focus and has gained a reputation in recent years as an exceptional performer of vocal jazz arrangements. Today, under the direction of Dr. Nicki Bakko Toliver, this chamber ensemble continues to cultivate a diverse repertoire, from Byrd to The Beatles and beyond. Comprised of skilled singers dedicated to exploring challenging choral literature, the Castle Singers ensemble enjoys performing throughout the academic year both on their home campus and beyond. Castle Singers frequently perform throughout the United States and also travel internationally, having previously toured countries in Western and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East, the Caribbean, Latin America, as well as Australia and French Polynesia. This May, they will also perform for the audience in Split.

Admission to the concert is free.
