NMG@PRAKTIKA - DOMINIK VIŠNJIĆ: SKANDIRAJTE UMJETNIKU JER JE DOBAR

Location: Kocka Club Gallery, Youth Centre Split (Ulica slobode 28)

Dates: June 15 – July 2, 2026

"He is an artist who, like a chameleon, moves effortlessly through different media and styles, becoming part of each while uncompromisingly maintaining his distinctive artistic signature." These words introduced the unconventional retrospective of Dominik Višnjić at Klovićevi Dvori Gallery. Now presented to the Split audience, the exhibition brings together three of Višnjić's works which, according to the pars pro toto principle, represent three distinct phases of his artistic development.

The work "Cheer for the Artist Because He Is Good" represents the first phase of his career, marked by a departure from printmaking—the medium through which he established himself as one of Rijeka's most promising young artists—and a turn towards multimedia practices.

His embrace of kinetic art is embodied in the work "Remember, Artist, That You Are Dust, and to Dust You Shall Return", while his stylistic shift towards digital printmaking is showcased in the exhibition's most recent piece, "Truly, Truly, I Tell You: An Artist Cannot, by Himself, Make Someone".

The phrase "The Artistic Chameleon" best encapsulates Višnjić's artistic practice, in which printmaking remains the constant foundation while reinvention serves as its defining characteristic. His position within the Croatian contemporary art scene can therefore best be described by paraphrasing Kutnjak's observation: artistically speaking, Višnjić stands alone in Croatia.

Dominik Višnjić (Varaždin, 2000) holds a Master's degree in Art Education. His artistic practice centres on printmaking, where he explores non-toxic printmaking technologies and the spatial possibilities of print as an immersive environment through experimentation. His work examines questions of identity and personality, resulting in installations inspired by ethnological and anthropological research that combine contemporary printmaking with traditional handicrafts.

The exhibition is open to visitors Monday to Thursday, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
