Manifestacija „Živa baština Dalmacije“

Manifestacija „Živa baština Dalmacije“

Location: Prokurative Square

Date: 9 May 2026

The Split-Dalmatia County presents a unique event that brings together the traditions, culture, and gastronomy of all parts of the region — from the Dalmatian hinterland to the islands. The program begins with a ceremonial parade of cultural and artistic societies, starting from the Croatian National Theatre in Split and continuing through Marmontova Street and the Riva promenade, all the way to Prokurative Square. The streets of Split will be filled with song, traditional costumes, and the spirit of various Dalmatian regions.

At Prokurative Square, visitors can enjoy a rich program divided into three main segments: dance, song, and music performances by cultural and artistic groups, interactive presentations of traditional crafts, and a gastronomic offer showcasing authentic flavors of the Split-Dalmatia County.

Visitors will be able to witness and experience traditional skills such as pottery on a kick wheel, basket weaving, and stone masonry, with special participation from the Stoneworking School of Pučišća, where guests will also have the opportunity to try stone carving themselves.

The program also includes a presentation of traditional Dalmatian clothing and grooming through the centuries — from folk costumes to workshops on making traditional jewelry and trying out old Dalmatian hairstyles. An exhibition of photographs showing the preparation of soparnik will also be on display, while the film “Za križen” will be screened at Kino Karaman, offering an insight into one of Hvar’s most important traditions.

The gastronomic offer brings together specialties from across the region — from soparnik and Vrgorac snails, to sweets from Imotski, Sinj, and Trogir, as well as indigenous wines such as Dobričić and Crljenak, Šolta olive oil, honey, and Pelinkovac herbal liqueur.

Nine tourist boards are participating in the event: Vrgorac, Makarska, Imotski, Sinj, Omiš, Kaštela, Trogir, Brač, and Šolta, along with a children’s corner with activities for the youngest visitors. The event is organized by the Split Dalmatia County in cooperation with FA Jedinstvo and the region’s tourist boards.
