In the universe of extraordinary music, there are artists who occupy a special place. Eddie and John are part of our musical universe, which is why this concert is truly more than just another concert in a series.

Eddie Chacon has an incredible story of two different eras and two lives in music. In the early 1990s, he was one half of the soul/R&B duo Charles & Eddie, whose hit “Would I Lie to You?” topped music charts around the world. After several years of creative struggles and tragic circumstances, Charles & Eddie virtually disappeared from the music industry, and Eddie did not release an album for more than two decades.

In the pandemic year of 2020, he returned with the album “Pleasure, Joy and Happiness,” produced by John Carroll Kirby. Many critics saw it not only as a major comeback, but also as one of the best soul and R&B releases of the year and a small modern masterpiece. Pleasure, Joy and Happiness was followed by Sundown and Lay Low, and this second chapter of his career has earned him perhaps even greater respect than he received during his greatest period of commercial success.

John Carroll Kirby is a pianist, keyboardist, producer and composer from Los Angeles. For years, he worked behind the scenes, performing and collaborating with artists such as Solange, Frank Ocean, Harry Styles and Blood Orange. He was one of the musicians involved in Solange’s “A Seat at the Table”, while simultaneously developing his own highly distinctive musical world somewhere between jazz, soul, ambient, new age and funk.
