Freediving for Guinness: A Sporting Spectacle

Location: Poljud Swimming Pool Complex (VIII. Mediteranskih igara 21 – outdoor pool)

Date: January 31, 2026, at 12:00 PM

Members of the Croatian national freediving team, Toma Čelar and Vitomir Maričić, will attempt to set new world records in disciplines that test strength, precision, and endurance.

Toma Čelar will perform the seemingly impossible – somersault rotations at a depth of 5 meters while carrying an incredible 15 kg of additional weight!

Vitomir Maričić is preparing a surprise discipline that simply must be experienced live!

The goal of this event is to promote freediving as an attractive and highly disciplined sport, with a special focus on motivating young people.

The entire endeavor will take place under the strict supervision of licensed judges and an expert safety team, ensuring the highest standards of safety and fair play.

Additional value is brought to this spectacle by the participation of associations proudly hosted by the organizers.

The event will be joined by “Bili tići” Association (Split) and “Mali Princ” Sports Association (Zadar).

This part of the program is dedicated to supporting people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities, who will, through social interaction with the athletes and symbolic gifts, become an equal and meaningful part of this great sporting story.
