Concert – “Festa Brasileira” – Yamandu Costa (Brazil)
Yamandu Costa is one of today’s most acclaimed guitarists. At just 17, he performed on the great stages of São Paulo, where critics immediately recognized him as an extraordinary talent. Soon after, his meteoric rise on the world stage began. With his guitar, Yamandu creates a distinctive and powerful sound, intertwining tradition and modernity while exploring and reinterpreting South America’s rich musical heritage – from Brazilian samba and choro, through Argentine milonga and tango, to Uruguayan candombe and chamamé.
He has performed at the most prestigious world festivals and concert halls, collaborated with greats such as Toquinho and Lúcia Yanelera, and his work was captured in the documentary Brasileirinho by Finnish director Mika Kaurismäki. His discography includes more than 20 albums, and critics consistently praise him as one of the most inventive guitarists of his generation.
