The Žrvanj Association is organizing the 13th consecutive clean-up of the Žrnovnica River, the riverside promenade, and the streets of the town on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

The action will start at 9:00 a.m. from Bašta in the town center, with pastries, tea, or coffee provided for all participants. At the end of the action, around 12:00 p.m., all volunteers will be treated to a free lunch.

For the thirteenth year in a row, the ecological action organized by the Žrvanj Association continues to grow in the number of participants. We are especially pleased that this year a record number of elementary school students has registered—one hundred children from Žrnovnica, Šine, and Kamen. From our experience, the participation of schoolchildren is far from symbolic—the amount of waste they collect is no less than that collected by adult volunteers, and at the same time, our younger generations further strengthen their ecological awareness. Alongside the young volunteers, participants will also include volunteers from numerous Split associations, as well as firefighters, mountaineers, divers, elementary school students, HGSS (Croatian Mountain Rescue Service), and many others.

Several groups will be formed during the action, each assigned a leader, with every team cleaning a different route. Most routes run along the Žrnovnica River all the way to its mouth, while some sections pass through the town itself.
