SILENT FILM AT THE ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM: “KIN-O-ZVUK – ONE DAY IN A TUROPOLJE COOPERATIVE (1933)”

Location: Ethnographic Museum Split (Iza Vestibula 4)

Date and time: October 2, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.

Following last year’s “Birtija”, the Kin-o-zvuk programme returns to the Ethnographic Museum Split with another unique encounter between film heritage and live music.

This time, we travel back to 1933 and the Turopolje village of Mraclin with the silent film "One Day in a Turopolje Cooperative", directed by Drago Chloupek. This exceptionally valuable film document of the life and customs of a bygone era received the main award at the International Festival of Ethnographic and Social Film in Florence, while its digitally restored version was also screened in Berlin.

The film may be silent, but the evening will not be. The screening will feature a live musical accompaniment by Dunja Bahtijarević, Roko Margeta and Goran Farkaš, who will also perform a concert after the screening.

Join us at the Ethnographic Museum Split for an evening where film heritage, tradition and contemporary live music come together.

Programme:

  • screening of the silent film One Day in a Turopolje Cooperative (1933)
  • live musical accompaniment by Dunja Bahtijarević, Roko Margeta and Goran Farkaš
  • concert following the screening

Admission is free.
