(from the foreword – Ana Petković Basletuć) “The artistic work of Edvin Dragičević stands out for its high technical quality, an authentic artistic handwriting, and contemporary themes that encourage reflection on the reality we live in, as well as a pervasive sense of irony and humour, which in his artistic concepts are sometimes direct and explicit, but more often concealed and subtle.

The exhibited woodcuts from the graphic portfolio CLAUSA, created in 2023 during the third edition of the Gorski Kotar Sculpture Workshop, and the new series of works of the same title in large-format serigraphy, form a complementary whole within a unified artistic concept that is thematically coherent with the artist’s earlier graphic cycles, such as Illusions of Security or Subteraneus, in which he explores, from different perspectives, the question of security and shelter in uncertain times.”

About the artist: Edvin Dragičević was born in 1968 in Split. He graduated from the School of Applied Arts, majoring in Graphic Design, and in 1997 earned his degree from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Education – Department of Visual Arts in Split. He has been a member of the Croatian Association of Visual Artists, Split (HULU Split) since 1993. He is employed at the Arts Academy in Split (UMAS) as a full professor, where he teaches graphic arts courses.

He served as head of the Department of Visual Culture and Fine Arts at the Arts Academy in Split from 2013 to 2017, and as dean of the Arts Academy in Split for two terms from 2017 to 2023. To date, he has held 20 solo exhibitions and participated in 189 group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, and has received numerous awards.
