Exhibition "The Artist at Meštro's," opening at 10 AM, Clay Workshop in the Meštrović Gallery Garden

The exhibition will showcase sculptures created through the workshop series "The Artist at Meštro's." Over the course of eight specialized sculpting workshops, led by academic sculptor Ljubica Dragojević Buble, participants learned modeling, creating ceramic sculptures, painting with engobes, making multi-part plaster molds, and casting plaster positives of small sculptures. A working corner will be set up alongside the exhibited works, where all visitors can model small sculptures in clay, thereby experiencing sculpting skills.

Participants in the Program:

Authors of the works, amateur artists,

Iris Marinović, Senior Curator at the Ivan Meštrović Museums, program author,

Ljubica Dragojević Buble, academic sculptor, program leader.

The exhibition will be opened by:Ljubica Dragojević Buble, academic sculptor

Meštrović's Architecture – EDUKIDO Lego® Workshop, starting at 11 AM, Meštrović Gallery Garden

Meštrović achieved an impression of superhuman and timeless architecture that inspires admiration and created an artistic "temple." The aim of this program is to emphasize to children that such places are neither everyday nor everywhere, helping them appreciate the cultural heritage of Split.

During the workshop, children will construct the following buildings: Meštrović's Church of the Most Holy Redeemer in Otavice and the Meštrović Gallery in Split. Participants will also have the opportunity to create their own interpretations of these works under the guidance of instructors. The workshop is conducted so that participants independently build the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer and build the Meštrović Gallery in groups of up to five children, using pictorial templates and viewing the architecture in the garden.

Program author/leader:** Iris Marinović, Senior Curator at the Ivan Meštrović Museums, and Ana Pelajić Tomasović (Lego® workshop)

Applications should be sent to:iris.marinovic@mestrovic.hr. Participation is limited to 10 children, with the quickest applicants securing their spots.

Guided Tour for the Public in the Meštrović Gallery and Meštrović's Crikvine-Kaštilac, starting at 11 AM, Meštrović Gallery Garden

On May 18, International Museum Day, the Ivan Meštrović Museums open their doors to all interested citizens for a guided tour starting at 12 PM in the Meštrović Gallery Garden. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the garden of the Meštrović Gallery, its artworks, architecture, and horticulture, the permanent exhibition in the Gallery, as well as Meštrović's Crikvine-Kaštilac with the Church of the Holy Cross. This is an opportunity for those who wished but did not have the chance to visit the Gallery's permanent exhibition during Museum Night to do so now with professional guidance. Due to the large retrospective exhibition held in Zagreb from November 2023 to March 2024, a significant number of sculptures were unavailable in Split, and their return to the permanent collection is an additional reason for visitors to see why the retrospective exhibition in Zagreb, held on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Ivan Meštrović's birth, garnered significant public interest. Meštrović, an artistic and intellectual genius, left an important artistic legacy in Split.

On International Museum Day, May 18, visitors can participate in the guided tour for the public free of charge without prior registration.

Program leader:Željan Kutlača

If there is a larger number of interested participants, the tour will be conducted in two groups starting at 12 PM.
