Original Split Advent this Saturday in Žrnovnica! Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will arrive in a horse-drawn carriage, distributing gifts to the children. Following the festivities, enjoy the "Apple Feast" with local delicacies.

After a three-year hiatus, Advent is returning to Žrnovnica, at least in the folk sense of the word! For two consecutive years, the Žrvanj Association organized the "Christmas Story in Žrnovnica," attracting thousands of visitors with its originality.

The era of the pandemic has muted Advent events in the eastern part of Split, but the volunteers of the Žrvanj Association have decided to bring back "Advent" for one evening. An evening filled with value and content that both children and adults will undoubtedly enjoy on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

The evening begins with the traditional "Christmas Carriage." For this occasion, a fully decorated carriage with a real horse-drawn carriage will circulate through the streets of Žrnovnica, arriving at its final destination - the parking lot in front of the fire station in the town center at 5:00 PM. Traffic in the town center will be temporarily suspended from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, accompanied by elves, will arrive in a carriage full of gifts for children, but the Grinch has announced his arrival and will try to steal the presents.

Nevertheless, Santa Claus has already asked for help from the donkeys Kovu and Šunja, who have set off from Split and will arrive in Žrnovnica on Saturday afternoon.

Advent food and drink offerings, all accompanied by the beats of a DJ.

Children will have the opportunity to take photos on the carriage with Santa and Mrs. Claus! After all the children receive their gifts, the festivities move to the nearby Bašta, where the 1st Apple Feast of Žrnovnica will take place. The Žrvanj Association has been implementing a program for the revitalization of the Žrnovnica apple - mašanka, a local apple variety saved from extinction and now being planted throughout Croatia. This is the first time that products made from this apple will be presented. Visitors can purchase apple products such as strudels, and various dishes and drinks, including those for children, will be available at the food stalls. The well-known craft brewery "Familia" from Kaštela will also be present at the feast.

"Žrvanj will provide stands for those who want to offer or exhibit their products made from or themed around apples. Interested parties are requested to contact us at the email address udruga.zrvanj@gmail.com by Friday," emphasized the association. The rental fee for a table is 10 euros.

DJ Tom from Split will ensure a lively atmosphere in Bašta. Entry is free, and everyone is welcome!
