New Year's Ball 2023

The cultural institution Hrvatski dom Split, in collaboration with the Tourist Board of Split, announces the New Year's Ball to be held at the Concert Hall of Ivo Tijardović on December 28, 2023, starting at 8:00 PM. The concert will feature soloists and the Symphony Orchestra of the Kharkiv National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet M.V. Lysenko / Skhid Opera under the direction of conductor Dmitro Morozov, a distinguished artist of Ukraine, performing works by J. Strauss.

In addition to the ball itself, the Hrvatski dom Split is organizing dance workshops in the foyer of the Ivo Tijardović Concert Hall. The workshops begin on November 28 and continue on the following 4 Tuesdays starting at 8:30 PM. The workshops are free for couples who purchase tickets for the New Year's Ball, and registration is by phone (+385 21 213 775) at the Hrvatski dom Split office. The number of places for dance workshops is limited.

Eternally young, lively, yet nostalgic, the music of the Viennese waltz composed by the Strauss family and their contemporaries is a reminder of Central European unique culture and cultural heritage. This is celebrated not only in the famous New Year's concerts at the Musikverein in Vienna but also by many other ensembles, soloists, and conductors throughout Europe. This season, the Hrvatski dom Split invites the audience to surrender to the irresistible enchantment of the three-beat rhythm, welcoming artists from the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv who will perform the most beautiful waltzes, marches, and operetta arias by Johann Strauss II and Johann Strauss I, as well as a song by Richard Strauss, the only one not belonging to the waltz composer dynasty. Conductor Dmitro Morozov, who holds the title of Distinguished Artist of Ukraine, leads the concert featuring soloists and the Symphony Orchestra of the Kharkiv National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet M.V. Lysenko / Skhid Opera. They are joined by soprano Olena Shiriaeva, a distinguished artist from Ukraine, and mezzo-soprano Anna Danich.
