The Split Sailing Festival brings together some of the most important regattas in Split and will take place from September 16th to October 15th. Get ready for a whole month filled with the charms of the sea, wind, and sails!

This unique international project combines culture, gastronomy, and sailing by merging the Vis Regatta, Mrduja, Mrduja Optimist Cup, and Labud Classica while preserving the tradition and contemporary spirit of sailing.

It starts with Labud and Little Mrduja, with the main events being Mrduja and the Vis Regatta.

Stay tuned for a month of nautical excitement and unforgettable experiences on the beautiful waters of Split! Join us from September 16th to October 15th at the Split Sailing Festival.

As part of the festival, three more regattas are held in October, and the year 2023 marks the first time these events are organized under one unique name - the Split Sailing Festival.

Regattas:

Labud Classic or "Sea Vintage" Regatta, September 16 - 17, 2023 - Owners of classic sailing vessels, mainly wooden ones, have the opportunity to start from Sustipan and test their sailing skills in two classes: Classic (boats older than 40 years) and Vintage (older than 30 years, made of fiberglass and other materials). The route is sailed on the third Saturday of September, at the beginning of "bablje ljeto" (grandma's summer), in two navigation stages. The first navigation stage, Split – Bobovišća, will be scored as the first race. The second navigation stage, Bobovišća – Split, will be scored as the second race.

Little Mrduja, September 22 - 24, 2023 - The most significant sailing regatta for the youngest, Mrduja Optimist Cup, or as it's often called, "Little Mrduja," brings the magic and joy of sailing, but this time for our youngest sailors. It's an opportunity for young talents to showcase their skills and passion for sailing. At the starting line, we'll not only see experienced competitors who have sailed through many waves and winds but also welcome new, fresh optimists who have just completed their summer sailing schools.

Mrduja, September 30 - October 1, 2023 - The Mrduja regatta has captured the hearts of sea, sail, and wind enthusiasts for 92 years. It is the oldest regatta in the Mediterranean that gathers a "colorful mix" of crews. From racing yachts and fast boats, to Latin sail boats, and family vessels where entire families sail towards Mrduja. This tradition endures.

The islet of Mrduja, after which this regatta is named, serves as a turning point or an auxiliary goal on the route Split–Mrduja–Split, covering a distance of 22 nautical miles. It is the most massive regatta on the Croatian Adriatic coast, with more than 300 sailboats participating each year. Sailors from all over the country compete with professional crews, while some do it for the sheer love of wind and sea. Nonetheless, all are equal participants in this sailing celebration. "Mrduja" is not just a regatta but also an opportunity to reunite old friends, exchange experiences, and create new stories.

Vis Regatta, October 13 - 15, 2023 - The Vis Regatta brings together the best of Croatian and European sailing, whether it's people eager for sports competition or those who simply enjoy coexisting with nature. It covers a full 28 nautical miles, twice – from Split to Vis and – after a day of leisure filled with exhibition sailing and traditional gatherings in Vis – back to Split. It is considered the most prestigious cruising sailing spectacle in Croatia, with over 150 crews and more than 1200 sailors, celebrating its 80th anniversary next year! This regatta is the most popular multi-day regatta in Croatia, owing in part to its late October timing, signifying the season's final sailing journey for many sailors.
