Exhibition of academician Boris Bućan - "Bućan At Sea"
"Boris Bućan has been inscribed in Croatian art history as its important protagonist, ever since his experimental appearances in the public space of the city of Zagreb and his exhibition at the Zagreb SC Gallery in the late 1960s, when he adhered to the progressive flow of conceptual art and new forms of artistic behavior, until today. He has achieved valuable work in the field of graphic design, i.e. the design of visual communications, again with an emphasized conceptual profile. From the rich opus, it is especially worth mentioning a series of posters that he began to create for the Croatian National Theater in Split (HNK Split) in the early 1980s (seasons 1982/83 and 1983/84) with the efforts of Nikša Župa from the theater marketing office. Copies of these posters were not only recorded on the streets of Split but were presented at relevant international art festivals such as the Venice Biennale (1984). Thus, it is approaching the four decades since Boris Bućan began to subtly attack the attention of passers-by with his visual lessons of large dimensions that put the HNK Split on the map of institutions indisputably sensitive to modern approaches to the medium of visual communications."
