26th INTERNATIONAL CHORAL FESTIVAL CRO PATRIA
Duration: November 19 - December 11, 2022
CRO PATRIA is a unique festival that promotes choral singing and contemporary choral creation. It is also a meeting point for quality vocal ensembles that interpret works of contemporary composers.
This year, the 26th edition of the festival will be held from November 19 until December 11, 2022.
The festival starts on November 19, 2022. at 8 p.m. with a solemn performance of "Poljička misa" by Boris Papandopulo performed by Camerata vocal Split under the direction of Ph.D. Sara Dodig Baučić, accompanied by M.Sc. art. Borne Barišić on the organ. The performance will take place in the Cathedral of St. Domnio. "Poljička misa" is an interesting combination of the composer's neoclassical tendencies and traditional Croatian melodies. The text of the mass is in the old Croatian Šćavet, and as inspiration in the melody, the composer did not exclusively draw on coastal folklore but was also inspired by the Dalmatian interior (zagora). This concert is dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Homeland War and the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja.
Furthermore, in cooperation with the Croatian concert hall Split on November 22, 2022. at 8 pm, we are commemorating the 40th anniversary of the death of Jakov Gotovac. Siniša Vuković, a poet, essayist, writer, and music critic will hold a suitable lecture with a musical program.
On Saturday, December 3, 2022. there will be two workshops for choirmasters. The workshops will be arranged. The first workshop "Vocal hygiene in choral singing" will be led by soprano Branka Pleština Stanić, while prof. Ivana Šutić is speaking about Challenges in working with a children's choir.
From December 9 until December 11, 2022. there will be various musical events in sacral monuments and other areas of the city. The guest choirs will provide the audience with various concert activities as well as solemn sung masses.
In the Croatian concert hall Split on December 12, 2022, at 8 p.m. there will be an Evening of New Compositions and the awarding of prizes for the most successful compositions of this year's edition of the festival.
